DAN MCCABE

Irish Folk Singer Singer/Songwriter

Dan McCabe is a 24 year old, Irish Traditional Folk Singer from Naas, County Kildare.

Dan has been a professional musician for 5 years now playing in venues all over Ireland and abroad. Passionate about music from a very early age Dan grew up coming from a lineage of Irish folk musicians. Dan began playing professionally at the age of 19 performing in local pubs in Naas and surrounding areas, quickly growing a cult following in the region.

Dan then began playing to a wider audience performing regularly in TempleBar and around Dublin and even stints in Santa Ponsa and London.

Dan became a wedding singer in 2019 and became extremely popular and sought after in the industry regularly performing 5 days a week in some of Irelands top venues.

Dan's real following began in 2020 during the Corona Virus Lockdown. Dan had been working as a healthcare worker in Naas General Hospital and due to lack of live performances in regular venues Dan began recording Irish Ballads in his bedroom and posting them online.

The videos quickly became viral gathering millions of views in a very short period of time and Dan would have his first major exposure when Rté's "The Sunday Game" featured his version of Luke Kelly's classic "Song for Ireland" as a tribute to all healthcare workers battling the covid-19 pandemic.

Dan has also appeared on Rté's "The Today Show" and also Tg4's Family based competition "Reaolta agus Gaelta".

To cap off an amazing break through year into the Irish Music scene Dan also released his debut album consisting of songs which he had recorded during the pandemic. The album is fittingly titled "Songs for Ireland (The Lockdown Laments".

The highlight of Dan's career came on New Years Eve 2020 when President Michael D Higgins invited Dan to Áras an Uactaráin to perform a song dedicated to all the Irish souls who have sadly passed away to covid-19 and also to their families.
